Success in the poultry sector requires a holistic approach, as many factors influence performance. Collaboration between participants is encouraged to share ideas and strategies, including working on poultry health.
With great enthusiasm and warmth Layer Solutions Day (LSD) was held again at Swiss-Bell Hotel Solo, Central Java on Thursday, July 19, 2025. With the theme “How To Be A Champion in Layer Business”, it was expected to be a strategy and dream to become a winner in the layer business. At this event, BEC Feed Solutions Indonesia collaborated with Big Dutchman Indonesia, as well as Hendrix Genetics to present various topics about layers.
Self Mixing Optimization
At the event, BEC Feed Solutions Indonesia highlighted the theme of optimizing self mixing with the use of quality premixes. Although this premix is used sparingly in self mixing feed mixtures, it has a significant role. Some of the criteria for the right premix to be the choice of self mixing breeders, namely a complete and balanced composition, according to the needs of livestock (strains), quality premix raw materials, as evidenced by detailed product content information, complete product label information, such as the inclusion of expiration dates and others, and competitive prices.
BEC’s premix products, such as BECMIX SPX 03 and BECMIX SPX 05, are focused on achieving efficient absorption of raw materials by utilizing various enzymes and optimizing intestinal health in poultry. In addition, other benefits that can be provided by BEC include checking the nutrients of raw materials with NIR, checking mycotoxins in feed raw materials, premix clinic training and checking the homogeneity of the feed mixer. Homogeneity is a parameter to see the effectiveness of the distribution of feed ingredients in all parts of the mixed feed. It should be done regularly every 6 months. Also every time you change feed ingredients with different particle sizes and or change the tool/mixer settings.
Preserving the Gut, Preserving Performance
At the same event, BEC also engaged experts from Jefo Nutrition Inc to explain strategies to reduce the impact of enteric infections with the aim of increasing egg production. Commercial layers are often exposed to factors that can cause enteric infections, such as pathogenic bacteria. The long production cycle of layers also increases the chance of enteric infections.
A combination of different strategies is key in reducing the negative impact of enteric infections on egg production. Such as early feeding strategies, low protein diets, improved gut health and feed supplementation with alternatives to AGPs (antibiotic growth promoters).
Jefo Organic Acids and Protected Essential Oils, or Jefo P(OA+EO) as it is symbolized, is a unique technological product to improve gut health. The formula effectively targets the desired location in the gut and combats pathogenic bacteria more efficiently, thanks to the key advantage provided by Jefo Matrix Technology (JMT). The main target of this formula is to increase egg production by improving gut health and reducing the negative effects of enteric infections. The product is said to prevent performance decline due to age of production or a less digestible diet. It even supports increased egg production in older hens through the mechanism of improved mineral absorption and retention, leading to better bone quality in older hens.
