Amid the challenges of layer (egg-laying chicken) production in hot and fluctuating tropical climates, collaboration between BEC, BD Agriculture Indonesia, and Hendrix Genetics once again delivered practical solutions for farmers through the “Layer Solution Day (LSD) 2025” seminar, held on Wednesday (23/10) at the Four Points Hotel, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The event, attended by dozens of layer farmers from eastern Indonesia, served as an educational and inspirational platform, showcasing innovations in feed efficiency, modern housing management, and digitalisation solutions designed to help Indonesian poultry farms progress toward global standards.

Efficiency

At BEC Indonesia, efficiency is the cornerstone of a successful layer business. As explained by our Technical Manager, Mega Saragi, the goal is clear: achieve optimal profitability through operational and production excellence. This requires a holistic approach—covering feed, health, and production management.

Feed efficiency is the first and most critical factor impacting profitability. Through reformulation strategies and the use of BEC Premixes, farmers can save up to IDR 86 million annually for a flock of 50,000 layers, while boosting productivity by IDR 300 million per year thanks to improved egg mass.

BEC Premix is designed to work with a wide range of feed raw materials, supported by advanced feed additives such as complete enzyme packages—phytase, protease, beta-glucanase, and xylanase—and multi-action toxin binders that protect digestive health and liver function. These enzymes enhance nutrient absorption, ensuring chickens digest feed more efficiently.

Protecting flock health is equally vital. Toxin binders in BEC Premixes neutralize harmful mycotoxins that can compromise chicken health and reduce egg production. Additionally, yeast cell wall (YCW) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, rich in β-glucan, strengthens immunity, while free nucleotides accelerate cell repair. Combined with alternative AGPs based on organic acids and essential oils, these solutions help control bacterial infections and improve gut health.

With BEC’s premix and reformulation support, farmers gain more than a product—they receive a comprehensive solution for efficiency and sustainability. The benefits are clear: lower feed costs, healthier flocks, reduced mortality, and improved egg quality. Efficiency isn’t just about cutting costs; it’s about maximizing the value of every egg produced.

BEC Indonesia remains committed to helping farmers overcome challenges such as rising feed costs and fluctuating yields, while ensuring long-term profitability and sustainability.
